Treatment plans are easy to do and cheap. Cons: No ASAM 5 What I liked least about BestNotes was the overall user experience. The interface often feels outdated and cluttered, which makes navigating between notes, client information, and documentation tools slower than it should be. Some features feel unintuitive, requiring extra clicks or searching through menus just to complete simple tasks. Because the layout isn’t very streamlined, it can be frustrating for new users and time-consuming for busy professionals who need to document quickly. Customization options are limited, so it’s difficult to tailor the system to a team’s specific workflow. While functional, BestNotes could benefit from a more modern, user-friendly design.Posted on Tiffany T.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. BestNotes review Overall: I have been using BestNotes for years and I know how to do most of the things within the program. I would recommend it to anyone that needs an EMAR. Pros: I know how to use it and customer service is pretty darn good. I would recommend it to anyone that needs an EMAR. Cons: It is pretty user friendly. I would recommend it to anyone that needs an EMAR. Customer service is amazing.Posted on Victor D.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. I like bestnotes Overall: It's been pretty good overall, four stars. Pros: The customer support is excellent; when I have an issue I get to talk to a human right away, and you've usually got an answer for me. Cons: I have had frequent episodes of the application slowing down or stalling out completely lately. I wish the patient portal was easier for patients to navigate.Posted on Jennifer H.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. BestNotes Feedback Overall: Good. Help Desk responds quickly to inquiries. Would recommend it (and have already done so) to other residential programs. Pros: Easy to use, easy to fix errors, color coding of appointments, quick responses from the Help Desk when needed. Cons: New users cannot see calendar appointments from before their start date. This is very frustrating and difficult.Posted on JONI D.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. BEST FOR IOP PROGRAM Overall: I would recommend for EMR. I like how when I call someone can help me right there vs a ticket. People are always nice Pros: I can call they they fix or walk through me issues or concerns right there. I never liked the ticket system. When I need something I need it now. Cons: Still feels like DOS. Billing is not easy. It doesn't flow with collabeMD very easily. I wish it was more user friendly don't like ticketsPosted on Aaron A.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. Love the Service Overall: It is one of the best EHRs I've used. It works will in house. There are issues when trying to get signatures from parents. Pros: BestNotes.is user friendly and tech support is responsive, friendly, and helpful. They seem to strive to improve the product. Cons: At times there are updates done that we, as users, don't always hear about. I have seen improvement in this over the past year. I've also have functionality issues with the parent portal.Posted on ERICA O.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. Great Experience! Overall: It was user friendly. Any time I had to contact customer care it was handled right away. I really enjoyed using Best Notes. I prefer Best Notes over anything I have used over the last 10 years. Pros: WhaI loved most about Best Notes is everything was on one platform. Seeing everything from assessments to group notes right on the first screen made it easy to find things. Searching for clients and making it easy to addd multiple stays as in just adding an episode. Having an app also makes it easy to look at stuff on the go. Cons: There wasn't really anything I didn't like about Best Notes. It was really easy to train people and have everything right there. One thing that could make it better is having a dashboard with all current clients on it.Posted on Justin P.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. Simply BestNotes Overall: It has been great.[sensitive content hidden] have been wonderful to talk to. I used Kipu at another facility but did not know the functionality, from what I saw it seemed like a lot of extra work for underwhelming reporting. I am also biased because I have been primarily using BestNotes since around 2013. I know about as much as I need to, and when I don't BestNotes support has been fantastic about responding and educating. Pros: I like having the ability to create templates that are suitable for providers without having to contact BestNotes for support. When I have needed to contact support they were very helpful in completing the task I needed, but they also educated me on their system and how to better use it for our needs. Cons: I wish that there was a way to populate table data into a template that we have created. This would save a lot of manual data entry time and/or prevent asking a patient the same questions multiple times. Most everything else there is a workable solution to getting what we need.Posted on Julie I.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Capterra. Could be more user friendly Overall: User interface could be better and ability to upload multiple documents at one time would be helpful. Pros: Good security. I don't think it's very user friendly. I've been using it so long now that I get it but the interface isn't user friendly. Cons: You can only upload 1 document at a time. The patient portal isn't very user friendly. We always have problems onboarding clients to the portal.

The terms are used interchangeably in our industry. Technically, EHR (electronic health record) implies a system designed to share data across providers and care settings, while EMR (electronic medical record) refers to a single-practice record. In behavioral health, almost every modern system fits the EHR definition. BestNotes is sometimes searched as ‘behavioral health EHR’ and sometimes as ‘behavioral health EMR’ — you’ll find both terms in our documentation.
Behavioral health EHR pricing varies widely. Most solutions price per user per month, with monthly costs ranging from roughly $59 to $200+ per user depending on features. Enterprise platforms aimed at large multi-site organizations can run $300+ per user. BestNotes pricing is published on our pricing page so programs can evaluate fit transparently.
